  WHO IS ÉMERIC?  Émeric was born and raised in Berlin, Germany, leading a secretive simple, quiet life with his parents and younger sister, Adelhéid. In his early years, he thought he was like any other boy—living peacefully with a father who worked in an office and a mother who owned a flower shop. However, everything changed when Émeric turned five. That was when he uncovered a secret his parents had been hiding from him. What once seemed like a normal family life now became a source of unease, haunting him well into his adulthood.As a child, Émeric struggled with the constant moving, never understanding why they had to leave one place for another. His father warned him and his sister not to form attachments to people or places—this advice left them with no friends or connections to anybody. It wasn’t until later, and especially after Adelhéid was born, that Émeric understood the truth. He vowed to protect her from the dark lessons their evil father tried to impart, determined to shield her from the same troubling fate. But that promise was broken when his sister turned seventeen.
